UTMT Ayurveda Boutique Hotel In Sri Lanka
People often say that Sri Lanka is a country of beautiful five-star hotels. That point of view is once proven again by the image of a stylish boutique hotel, Underneath The Mango Tree (UTMT hotel).
This individually managed beach hotel is able to impress any travelers with its warm colored theme, classy decoration, natural surrounding and interesting facilities.
Location Of UTMT Resort
UTMT is located in Dickwella. Although it is in the very South of Sri Lanka, UTMT hotel can be easily reached by taxis or tuk-tuks.
There is a local market nearby, which allows us to experience daily Sri Lankan life with a lot of local food and other products. The walk to market only takes 10 minutes on foot.
On the way there, you can find many fruit stores or just sit down and enjoy a game of cricket under the sunset. If we are tired to walk, the hotel staff is always willing to call a tuk-tuk for you to get there in 3 minutes.

Our Favorite Room
The proper name of the hotel should be “Underneath The Coconut Tree” because 273 coconut palms obviously dominant the lonely mango trees in the picturesque surroundings.
However, when I tried the freshly-picked sweet mangos, I realised sometimes in our life, the impression cannot be placed in the quantity. The sweetness of mangoes and people here deserves to been chosen as the heart of the hotel.
I was totally overwhelmed when opening the door of my room. The interior design is greatly consistent with the theme “ELEGANT NATURE” of UTMT.
That natural elegance is expressed by the organic toiletries, open-space stylish bath tub and shower (yes, there is no door for the bathroom), furniture made from palms, private pools and the balconies opening the most space of the room to the outside so that the guests can connect themselves the most with the pure nature.
Restaurants At UTMT Hotel
Cuisine is another thing UTMT can be proud of.
UTMT seems to be a strict artist who creates the delicious dishes with carefully selected regional and seasonal ingredients, such as Nalin’s fish, Ravi’s papaya, Roshan’s buffalo milk or Dinesh’s vegetables. All of them are the best results of the serious research by visiting the local suppliers and questioning the neighbourhoods.
Besides Sri Lankan food, UTMT hotel also adds the European and Austrian cooking style to take care of the guests’ sudden homesickness or curiosity.
The chefs here make their own bread, pastries, bezels and jam from the local fruits to bring us the most authentic tastes on their marvellous terrace.
Facilities At UTMT Resort
To be honest, I just wanted to stay in the hotel because the indoor activities were enough to keep me busy and attracted.
If I wanted to move my body, I could go swimming in the gorgeous infinite pool. A cup of tea after swimming to enjoy the splendid view there can be one of the unforgettable memories anyone will ever have.
When I wanted to slow down my day, I enjoyed the billiards game with my friends, take on yoga and meditation lessons.
In the evenings, I preferred go to the hotel spa to let my body be renewed.
Sometimes, I just sat on the sofa and discovered the huge collection of books on the second floor of lounge.
I would sign in some of their exciting outdoor activities like whale & dolphin watching tour, Galle tour and cannoning.
I definitely need to come back UTMT to explore the adventurous side of Sri Lanka.
Our Opinion On UTMT Resort
When I stayed there, I felt I was important & loved because all of my needs were nurtured.
After swimming in my private pool, I only needed to sit out on the deckchair and enjoyed the view of the peacocks dancing on the grass. And, the wind sang me to sleep with its tender lullaby.
When I wake up to take a shower, my skin was taken care of by the aromatic bathing gel and lotion made from coconut. At that time, the music from the radio was on and completed the picture of a peaceful vacation.
When I went out of my room, I knew everything had been well prepared for me to keep me interested and satisfied.
Just go there even one in your life and you will understand what I say.
